Ashton Ramsammy

For Minnesota House District 32A

Progress, Not Politics

Ashton Ramsammy is a public policy analyst, health unit coordinator, classically trained flautist, and a lifelong resident of Blaine. Ashton grew up here in Blaine and graduated from Spring Lake Park High School in 2019. Ashton is Guyanese-American and is a child of immigrant parents. He currently studies at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro (UNCG), pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in Pre-law in 2023.

As a former public policy analyst under the executive director for the Anoka County Community Action Program (ACCAP), Ashton studied first hand the issues that Blaine and Anoka County faces regarding homelessness, senior citizen rights, and low-income family education rights. Using what he has learned, Ashton intends to write and introduce meaningful legislation regarding homelessness prevention, reducing the cost of living for our senior citizens, as well as improving access to equitable education for all disenfranchised communities.

Working as a Health Unit Coordinator in Adolescent Behavioral Mental Health at the University of Minnesota Medical Center has opened his eyes to the depth of the mental health crisis that we are currently going through. As an immense advocate for mental health reform, Ashton also intends to bring a bill to the floor that requires and funds all public high schools across the state to have trained mental health-specific staff and classes to ensure our students have the resources they need to succeed.

And as a classically trained musician, Ashton understands the necessity of working hard towards a common cause together, instead of against each other.

Securing Funding for Highway 65 is one of Ashton’s top priorities if elected. Ashton is dedicated to finally rebuilding and fixing our districts’ biggest infrastructure failures.

If elected, Ashton would be the first Guyanese-American elected to public office in the Midwest!
